Maria-Alice Macedo, 91, passed away peacefully in her home on September 25th, 2024. She was born February 14th, 1933, on the Azores Island of Flores, Portugal. She was the tenth child of fourteen. Maria Alice studied to be a teacher in the Azores but had to leave the island after the volcano eruption left the land unfarmable. She immigrated to the United States in 1959, married and had two daughters, Florinda and Alice. After their divorce in 1970 she later married Joe Macedo (1973) and moved to Modesto, CA. Joe unexpectedly passed in 1986 and eight years later she married Frank Faria until his passing a few years later. Maria Alice was a very social person who was proud of her Portuguese heritage and her family. She loved hosting family at her house and attending festas. She also loved finding great bargains and collecting things. Maria Alice was an avid gardener, who loved propagating, grafting and growing plants.
She is survived by her two daughters Florinda Bjustrom and Alice Macedo Lark, three brothers John, Verissimo and Viriato, and her sister Alvarina Mangano.
Funeral Services will be held at Allen Mortuary in Turlock, Ca on Monday, October 7th at 10am. (Visitation 8-10am on Monday, October 7th)
