He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Angelita, as well as siblings Eva Reyes, Henrietta Cruz, Samuel Porras, Delia Duchene, and Ida Porras. He is survived by Enrique M. Juan began working young, leaving school after 9th grade. He discovered his passion in auto body work, a career he pursued for over 40 years. Known for his precision and skill, he took great pride in his ability to match paint colors before modern tools existed.
At 15, Juan met Martha, who had moved in next door. They married five years later and were blessed with seven children. Their journey took them across Texas, New Mexico, and California, always focused on providing for their growing family. They were married for 62 years.
Juan had many interests: he played guitar and accordion, loved music, and often sang at family gatherings. A lifelong learner, he explored electronics, ham radios, Morse code, and became a certified locksmith and private investigator. He was an avid reader with a deep interest in science and languages, recently teaching himself Turkish.
He enjoyed watching westerns and cherished time with his family. He was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Juan is survived by his wife Martha; children Sylvia Willemse (Michael), Angela Hammons (Steve), Ida Settlage (Bill), Johnny Porras Jr. (Berta), Cristina Carpenter (Devin), Jesse Porras (Leticia), and Ezekiel Porras; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will be remembered for his curiosity, hard work, and devotion to family.
