Claire Millicent Price, at the extraordinary age of 105, passed away at Casa De Modesto Retirement Center. She lived a long and fruitful life and lived in the same house from 1956 to 2000 when she moved to Casa De Modesto.
Claire was born in the fall of 1912 to Oscar and Fanny Mall in Santa Anna and grew up in Ceres with siblings Lola Oberkamper, Olive Parker, Woodrow Mall, Oscar Jr Mall and Richard Mall all deceased. She became a teacher and taught at the elementary schools in Turlock, Ceres and Modesto. In 1946 Claire re-married to Clifford Price. He died in 1983. She is survived by son James, 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family had a cabin in Big Trees and they would love to go there every weekend. After retirement, Claire enjoyed bridge at least a couple of times a week.
A strong-willed and healthy woman her whole life, Claire was independent, well liked and respected. Her students were very important to her and when asked what her favorite grade was, she would answer “The one I was teaching at the time”. Claire loved her family and she will be deeply, deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at Casa De Modesto Retirement Center at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Private interment will be held at Turlock Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations in Claire’s name may be made to Casa De Modesto Retirement Center 1745 Eldena Way, Modesto, CA 95350. Please share your memories on this website.
