John (Jack) Kelson Jones passed away on November 15, 2019 in Turlock, California. John was born on February 10, 1932 in Denver, Colorado and he grew up in Brigham City, Utah. John was known as Jackie as a child and Jack as an adult. Jack graduated from Box Elder High School and then began attending Brigham Young University for one Year. Jack then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the North California Mission. After serving his mission, Jack then served in the Korean War.
After the Korean War, Jack then completed his collegiate career at San Jose State Universit. He began his career as a Probation Officer in Alameda County and remained employed there until his retirement. Jack met his sweetheart Shirley Louise Pope in Turlock. They were married on July 12, 1956 in the Los Angeles Temple. Jack and Shirley resided in Fremont and Pleasanton while they raised their six children.
After retirement, Jack and Shirley were able to serve a mission in Texas. After this mission, Jack and Shirley moved from Pleasanton to Turlock to be close to other family members. Jack and Shirley then moved from Turlock to Colorado, Idaho, and then back to Turlock in 2018.
He is survived by his loving wife and 6 children Russell, Kenneth, Douglas, Holly, Lisa and Lori. 26 Grandchildren and 36 Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sat., Nov. 23 from 9:30-10:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 4300 Geer Rd in Turlock. Funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Burial at Lakewood Cemetery.
