Joyce Kopecki September 10, 1936 - March 3, 2021

Sept. 1936 – March 2021

Joyce Kopecki was born to Riley and Milley Casey on September 10, 1936 in Austin, TX.  She grew up locally, always supported by Casey and Hibdon families too numerous to list.

She was married to Ronald R. C. Ashlock in 1950 and divorced in 1973. Mom married Herb Kopecki in 1976. Mom had a blended family with a total of 12 children, 31 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren and one on the way.

Mom had minimal time to develop a career but worked seasonal jobs at a cannery for several years.  She had several activities she enjoyed: fast draw contests in which she won many trophies, and racing a stock car in powder-puff events. She always enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. She was always supportive of all family activities.  Again, she was a mom to everyone she met.

Mom leaves a hole in our lives that can never be refilled.

She is survived by her children: Ronnie Ashlock of Atwater, Debbie Medeiros of NV, Kathy Pennycuff of Atwater, Ricky Ashlock of Atwater, Robbie Ashlock of Atwater, and Carol Parsons of Winton; stepchildren Randy Kopecki of NV, Kelly of Modesto, Terrie of Ceres, and Cheryl of VA; and brother Carroll Casey of Lodi.  She was predeceased by her son Randy Ashlock and stepdaughter Janet Mitchell.

Viewing will be at Allen Mortuary on March 15, 2021 from 10am – 12pm.  A Graveside service will follow at 1:30pm at Sunnyside Cemetery in Stevinson.

Once you have submitted your condolence, it will be approved by our staff during office hours, then published on your loved one’s page.

No, sadly dad passed in Dec due to covid. Yes, mom was the fastest quick draw woman in the west. Hundreds of trophies. She was also a powder puff race car driver. Thank you for caring. Your dad was a huge part of my dad’s life. Thank him for that please.

Granny and Papa Herb mad an awesome team. I will always remember their love and devotion to family. My memories of the love will stay with me forever. They will both be missed but their love will go on. Granny had so much love and Papa Herb supported her giving it.

We are saddened to hear of your moms passing, my father John Sisk, was friends with Herb, he would like to know if Herb is still alive? My dad told me that your mom was an awesome quick draw!!

I am embarrassed that I left Pop out with no mention of how he loved Mom and protected her. Pop would load everything Mom wanted to take, and truly had no reason to lock the house as nothing of value was left behind when going camping. Mom and Pop were a great team, complimenting and supporting each other. With such a large family it is obvious they worked as a team while being good parents to all of us. I know I will never forget their influence in my life.

The loss of our mother is a mixed blessing and curse. As some of you know she was in a home for almost a year and with COVID we were limited to our visits. She was a mother to many more then what is listed here. Please leave a comment as to how she has touched your life.
Thank you all for your prayers!
