Betty Mae Davis, 95 of Denair, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 19, 2021.
Betty, a second-generation native Californian, was born to George and Bell (Weaver) Moore and raised in Delhi, California. Although an only child, she enjoyed the lifelong companionship of many aunts, uncles and cousins as her mother was the eldest of ten all of whom resided in the Delhi area.
After graduating from Livingston High School, Betty earned an Associate Degree from Modesto Jr. College. Betty enjoyed playing softball through her school years and after graduating from college she continued playing on a team from Turlock.
While working for the Turlock Journal, she met Edward Newton Davis and they married in the Delhi Presbyterian Church in 1951. Ed and Betty built a home in Delhi. Betty continued working until their first child was born in 1956 and the family moved to the Monterey Bay. During their 20 years in Soquel, a second daughter was born in Santa Cruz in 1958. There Betty enjoyed raising a family, boating, fishing, and walking to the nearby beaches. In 1976 Betty and Ed moved to Denair, CA where she resided until her passing.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Edward Davis. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Herren and Nancy Leach. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Dusten Herren, Brian Herren, Camey Miller, Kyle Miller, and Natalie (Herren) Magram, as well as 8 great grandchildren. She is remembered fondly by her surviving cousins and descendants.
Memorial service for Betty will be held on Saturday, May 29 at 1:00pm at Allen Mortuary. Interment will take place on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 1:00p.m. at Turlock Memorial Park.
