EvaLee Campbell Pugh July 30, 1935 - May 3, 2021

July 30, 1935 – May 4, 2021

EvaLee was born July 30, 1935 to Jessie and Lila Mae Campbell in Merced, California. She grew up in Planada where she attended Planada Elementary School, LeGrand High School and Merced High School.

EvaLee worked for many years at California Canners and Growers, TriValley Growers and Crown Cork and Seal. During the off season, EvaLee worked in the office of Gottschalks Dept. Store, where she never met a stranger.

So many memories were made with family and friends houseboating and fishing on Lake McClure. EvaLee loved being outside, working in her yard, ready to greet friends and family that would stop by for a “cold drink” and a visit. EvaLee seriously enjoyed playing “Draw Poker” and she loved Merle Haggard music playing in the background. But most of all it was her amazing talent to make “quilts” that she shared with every member of her family and her extended circle of friends that we cherish the most.

EvaLee is preceded in death by her father Jessie William Campbell, her mother Lila Mae Campbell Pearson, her brother Jessie William (JW) Campbell of Texas, and her stepson Wayne Pugh Jr. (JR) of Oklahoma. EvaLee is survived by her husband Wayne Pugh of LeGrand, son Larry Slate (Shireen) of LeGrand, daughter Jeanne Kahl of LeGrand, stepdaughter Pamela Pugh of Vallejo, grandchildren Wayne Slate (Kari) of LeGrand, Justin Slate of Merced, Jaymie Kahl of LeGrand, John Slate (Desiree) of Merced, and Jannell Kahl of LeGrand. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren as well as many nephews and nieces.

EvaLee’s outgoing personality and quick wit will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

As per EvaLee’s wishes there will be no formal services, instead a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
