Bruce Windall Bristow September 14, 1941 - July 18, 2021

September 14, 1941 – July 18, 2021

Bruce Windall Bristow was born September 14, 1941 to Albert and Lockie Bristow in Cleburne, Texas and passed away on Sunday July 18, 2021.  His family moved to Turlock in 1944. He attended Wakefield Elementary, Turlock High School and Turlock Adult School.  He picked cotton with his family on weekends when he was just 10 years old.  He got his first job at 15 working at the Wire Basket Company on Lander making wooden planters.  He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 1958 at the age of 17 and served 4 years in the infantry, as a cook and a rifle instructor.  Bruce received his GED from Turlock Adult School.  Bruce worked for his dad at his dad’s gas station for a few years.  He then went on to work at Deuel Vocational Institute (DVI) in Tracy as a Guard.  In 1971 he went to work for Proctor & Gamble and retired in 1994.  He worked various jobs after he retired to keep himself busy.

Bruce was a devoted father, husband and Papa.  He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and friends.  He loved classic car shows, car swap meets and the Giants.  He would always tell you how it was but would give you the shirt off his back.  He was very well known for his unusual sense of humor.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. 

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Sharon Bristow, Daughters – Terrina Melo, Patti Utz(Kenny), Stepchildren – Eric Bowman(Lisa), Bre Siegfried, Grandchildren – RJ McCombs III(Maggie), Kori Melo, Renae Cole Melo, Kalessa Utz, Jim Atkinson, Britanie Melo, Kristina Melo, Amanda Siegfried, Rhiannon Siegfried, Kara Bowman, Emilee Fanning, and Tyler Utz, Great Grandchildren – Rodney McCombs IV, Gianna Campbell, Annalisa McCombs, Charlie McCombs, Henry Moore, Trey Campbell, Regan McCombs and Adalyn.

He was preceded in Death by his Parents Albert Lee Bristow & Lockie Lorene Bristow, Siblings – Ruby Nowlin and Wayne Bristow, Nephews – Freddie Nowlin, Alan Nowlin and Randy Bristow.

Graveside Services will be held at Turlock Cemetery Tuesday, July 27th at 10:00 a.m.  A celebration of life will follow at Denair Senior Center @ 3756 Alameda Ave, Denair, CA.  In Lieu of flowers please donate to Covenant Care Hospice or Homes For Our Troops (www.hfotusa.org)
