Dixie Ann Souza April 28, 1944 - January 17, 2022

April 1944 – January 2022

Dixie Ann Souza was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She left this world on January 17, 2022 at the age of 78. Her passing was a testament to her love for her family, as she spent her last days surrounded by her loved ones, holding her with love and compassion and knowing that they will carry on her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Family was most important to Dixie, and she made sure that everyone received her whole heart and kind, loving care. She had a passion for reading and especially reading to her children and grandchildren. She also loved painting, arts and crafts, music and plays. Dixie and Mike lived and raised their family in Gustine, CA. She spent many years helping her husband Mike run their grocery store there called Souza’s Grocery. Many years later they moved to Turlock, CA. It was there that Dixie worked for ten years as an Administrative Assistant at The Covenant Living facility before retiring. During this time, she worked with many people that ended up being lifelong friends. Dixie and Mike loved to travel and experience new places and cultures. Over the years, her and Mike had many wonderful adventures together both here and abroad.

She was born Dixie Ann Bartlett on April 28th, 1944, in the small town of Coal Hill, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Roy and Gussie Bartlett and was one of five children. She married her husband Mike Souza on May 29th, 1970, and had three children (Kim, Michael, and Shelly). She had ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded by her brother Don Bartlett, brother Hack Bartlett and sister Shirley Bartlett. She is survived by her brother Ron Bartlett of Minden, NV, husband Mike Souza of Turlock, CA, daughter Kim Carlucci of Dos Palos, CA, son Michael Souza of Turlock, CA and daughter Shelly Souza of Modesto, CA.
