November 1976 ~ January 2022
Joseph E. Imbat Jr. passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the age of 45 years, in his home in Lathrop, CA surrounded by his loving family. He fought courageously against cancer. Joseph will forever be in our hearts and be truly missed by all that knew him.
Joseph was born November 16, 1976 in Anchorage, Alaska to Joseph and Rosita (Eustaquio) Imbat.
He grew up in San Jose, CA and later moved to Tracy, CA where he attended Tracy High School.
After high school he worked his way up from his first job as a technician at Abbott to software automation at Applied Materials.
Joseph was known to family and friends as a brilliant, well diverse, kindhearted, and loving man.
Joseph was a genius, the wild card of the family, and a real-life MacGyver. He was bright with lots of interests and seemed to know everything about anything. His interests ranged between tinkering with computers to collecting vintage toys and clothing, as well as composing music. Joseph’s collections would comprise of toys from the 90’s, such as GI Joes, Star Wars, Transformers, He-Man, to vintage kitchenware, and rare clothing brands. He loved all music genres, especially House. Joseph was a DJ and would often orchestrate and compose his own beats through his numerous synthesizers, drum machines and sample sequencers. He also had a strong desire to improve basic items to make them extraordinary. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t make or do.
Joseph was considered the glue of the family and a role model to all. He showed unconditional love to family and friends, uniting them with an enjoyable home cooked meal among good company. He was a devoted husband, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and a friend to all. He cherished his friendships with his close circle of friends, alongside new, extended friends, maintaining a relationship with each of them throughout the years.
He loved the outdoors, especially being near the ocean. He felt most relaxed with his line cast, basking under the sun with a cool breeze; listening to the soothing sound of the waves crashing against the jetty rocks.
Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Phitsamay; parents, Joseph and Rosita Imbat; sisters, Grace Adatan and Stephanie Imbat; and nephews, Eugene, Jalen, Jacob, Jaxon, and Jayceon, as well as his family and many loyal, longtime friends.
