“To know her was to love her”

Nana, mother, beloved wife, daughter, sister, dog-mom, grand-nana, cousin, and friend.  LaVerne, a wonderful woman who loved you with her whole heart and was well-loved.

LaVerne was born to Charlie Burns and Edith Lunsford in Foyil, Oklahoma.  She moved with her mother to California when she was two years old.  LaVerne was raised by Edith and Bill Emery while she lived in California.  She was a graduate of Sonora High School.  She later moved to Turlock with her husband, Denzil Edwards.  They were married 29 years until he unfortunately passed away in 1987.  A couple years later she married Richard F. Desper and they had been married until she passed (31 years married). While residing in Turlock she was a small business owner. She had owned Hair Dimensions (one of the very first hair salons in Turlock) with her late husband, Denzil. She also owned Light Bright with her son, Randy. The last business she owned was a Sweats and T’s shop with her husband, Rich.

LaVerne most of all enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She also enjoyed gardening, golfing, shopping, taking long walks with her grandchildren, going for drives, eating out, crafting, and she LOVED baking and was AMAZING at it.  She was a very giving person with a heart of gold and expected nothing in return. She was always taking care of others before herself.  She loved baking banana bread with her husband every year for the American Cancer Society.   When her son was younger she was actively involved in the PTA and sports.  She loved animals, especially her dogs Sadie and Mylie.

She leaves behind her husband, Rich. Her son Randy (Sharon), and her grandchildren: Brandi (Rob), Kassie (Aliax), Amanda (Tyler), Dakota, Richard JR (Linda), Jeanie, and Brooke. Also leaving behind are her great- grandchildren: Kylie, Madisyn, Tommy-D, Chloe, and Travis.
