Paul Staplin Turnbull December 28, 1933 - October 23, 2022

Paul Staplin Turnbull, 88, of Fair Oaks, CA, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022.

Paul lived a long and happy life. He was born to Ruth and Thomas Turnbull on December 28, 1933, in Sacramento, CA. He and his sister, Leonora, had a great childhood and Paul especially enjoyed helping his dad out at the family ranch, which he later went on to inherit. He also went on to serve our nation in the US Army in 1955. His job included working with secret documents at the US Embassy in Cambodia. He served until 1958. He then attended California State University, Sacramento and earned a degree in business in 1960.

In 1962, he married Leonne Almquist Turnbull and went on to have two children, Sally and John. During his career, he worked for the County of Sacramento as a Real Property Appraiser. Paul was also very involved at First Covenant Church in Sacramento for many years. His hobbies during this time included wood working, gardening, working with computers, model airplanes, and taking family vacations. A favorite trip of the family’s was an RV trip across the country.

In 1996, he retired and moved to Covenant Village in Turlock, CA, where he lived until Leonne passed away. They enjoyed the wonderful community there, and they made the most of their time together by traveling the world— Australia, China, Panama Canal, and England, being just some of their destinations. After Leonne passed, Paul moved back to the family ranch in Fair Oaks where he enjoyed keeping up the land and continued his love for woodworking. He created many beautiful heirlooms that his family will forever treasure.

He is survived by his children, Sally and John (Cindy); his grandchildren, Cory (Katie), Kerstin (Tyler), Kyle, Karl (John), and Erik; and his great-grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Charlotte, Barrett, Everett, Wyatt, and Jett.

Paul’s absence on the earth is great and while our hearts are aching, we also rejoice that he is no longer in pain and now at peace with his savior, Jesus Christ, and his beloved wife.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at Allen Mortuary’s Heritage Chapel on Wednesday, December 28, at 1:00pm. Interment was held privately.
