Allen Matthew Johnson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 24th, 2022. He was 95 years old. Allen was born December 2, 1927 to Werner and Ingrid Johnson in San Francisco, CA.
Allen worked 30 years as a teacher and administrator in the San Francisco public schools. He valued education and valued his students even more.
Allen loved Jesus, his wife Marvel, his family, his country (veteran of 2 wars), his church Dolores Park Covenant, Mission Springs Conference Center and his beloved city of San Francisco.
Allen and Marvel were well known for their gift of hospitality. They always welcomed people into their home for a meal or coffee through which they touched many people’s lives.
Allen is survived by his wife of 69 years Marvel. In addition he leaves behind his children, Mark Johnson of Turlock, CA, Gwendolyn Yee (Larry) of San Francisco, CA, and Greta Pearson (James) of Turlock, CA.
Allen loved his five grandchildren Erin, Ingrid, Connor, Allen, Emma and his four great grandchildren Annika, Malachi, Hadley, and Callan.
A celebration of Allen’s life will be held at Dolores Park Covenant Church, 455 Dolores Street, San Francisco, CA on Saturday January 21, 2023 at 2 pm.
