Maria Leonilde Sousa, 96 of Turlock, CA, passed away on February 26, 2024. She was born August 2, 1927 in Doze Ribeiras, Terceira, Azores. Maria migrated to the Escondido, California then settled in Turlock in 1981. She was a caregiver for 24 years. Maria enjoyed reading, gardening, and loved attending Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Maria is survived by her sister-in-law, Salome Melo Sousa, nephews, John (Lorena) Martins, Valdemiro (Eva) Martins, Firmino (Mary) Martins, Manuel (Connie) Martins, John DeSousa, Luis DeSousa, and nieces, Maria Coelho, Maria Conceicao Sousa, and Lucia Sousa.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvaro Pacheco DeSousa and Maria Da Conceicao Borges, siblings, Maria Matilde Martins, Firmino Pacheco DeSousa, and Maria Alzira DeSousa and nephew, Firmino Pacheco DeSousa.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 11am with Funeral Mass to follow both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday.
Entombment will be held at Turlock Memorial Park.
