Marlieta Beatrice Harp
September 10th 1946 ~ April 15th 2024
Marlieta “Bea” Harp of Modesto, California passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 77 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Bea was born to Edwin and Lula Neilson in Oakdale California, and spent most of her life in the area. She grew up in Modesto and graduated from Downey High School. Bea worked many jobs over the years as a jack-of-all-trades, including as a Dog Catcher for the sheriff’s office and managing the Garden Department at Pay ‘n Pak. She later returned to school to get her nursing certification and worked as an ER Tech at Memorial Medical Center alongside her two sisters Edna and Millie.
Bea was devoted to her church and loved Jesus. She was always eager to share her recent learnings from her Wednesday Bible study group. She loved her children and grandchildren and thrived off the joy they brought to her life. In her spare time, Bea enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and, most importantly, cooking for those she loved.
Bea is survived by her two sons Lyrad (Stephanie) Souza and Donovan (Nicole) Souza, her daughter Christy Michel, her sister Edna Watkins, her cousin Peggy Grenig, her grandchildren Ryan (Cortney) McMillen, Cassidy (Khrys) Daniel, Cilya Michel, Riley, Kayley, Alicia, Anthony, and Kyle Souza, and 6 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Danny Harp, Daughter Alicia Souza, and her siblings Millie Taylor, Bud Neilson, and Jack Neilson.
A Funeral will be held for Bea at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, April 25 starting at 10:00 am with interment at N. Hilmar Cemetery to follow.
