On January 5, 1950 in Grants, New Mexico, Ada Mae and David Corley Sr. welcomed their first born, Dolores Marie Corley, also known as DiDi.
Didi grew up with the love of both her parents and grandparents, Minnie Lee (MoMo) and Morris Cherry. She attended schools in the Albuquerque, New Mexico School District.
After school Dolores, fueled by her passion for helping others, began working in the field of nursing.
In 1967 Dolores and Johnny Vines Sr. became a family, and this loving bond produced five children. DiDi later relocated her family to San Jose, CA , living there many years. While living in San Jose she worked various jobs. She did commercial housekeeping, private house cleaning, as well as working in the nursing field. The job she took the most pride in was being a mother.
Dolores had an enormous giving and loving heart. She opened her home to many who needed a warm, safe place to lay their heads. She was an exceptionally good cook, and graciously fed those who needed a warm meal. She would give whatever she had without hesitation.
Dolores’ hobbies included crotchet, painting, traveling, meeting new friends, cooking and crafting.
She leaves to cherish her memories, five (5) children: Major Corley, Sr. (Turlock, CA), Johnny Vines Jr. (Colorado), Sophia (Cliff) Dugger (Lumber City, GA), Barbara (Manny) Agis (Citrus Heights, CA), and Monique Corley (San Jose, CA); one special nephew/son, Starling Miller Sr. (Sacramento, CA); two sisters: Ernestine Holman (Albuquerque, New Mexico) and Vera Hill (Madera, CA); one brother Vernon ( Ray) Corley ( Madera, CA); eight (8) grandchildren: Shanequa Vines, Tyannie Corley, Dewand Smith, Jazmine Smith, Tonjalahia Walker, Danell Smith, Nakisha Smith and Shameka Smith; four (4) great grandchildren; four special friends: Luetta Brooks, Cordelia Hill, Karen Snider and Denise Show; and a host of other family and friends.
A visitation will be held for Dolores at Allen Mortuary on Wednesday, May 22 from 5-7pm. A Funeral will be held at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, May 23 starting at 10:00am.
