Dr. Robert S. Porcella December 31, 1933 - May 23, 2024

Dr. Robert Porcella passed away on May 23, 2024, in Modesto, California, at the age of 90 surrounded by family.
He was a dedicated family medical doctor in Modesto for 35 years.
Bob was the oldest child of Stephen and Eileen Porcella and grew up in Modesto with his brother Don and sister Terry. He graduated from UC Berkeley and UCSF Medical School. Bob married Yvonne in 1958 and they enjoyed their 57th anniversary before Yvonne passed away in 2016.
After completing his medical residency training, Bob served his Country in the US Air Force as a flight surgeon, and then returned to Modesto to start his family medical practice. Bob and Yvonne raised their 4 children on their almond farm in Wood Colony, and then moved to Arnold when he retired. Bob loved his Jack Russell Terriers, and hiking, fishing, and kayaking.
Bob was very proud of his children and 11 grandchildren, who all obtained college degrees (including two PhDs), as well as his 10 great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne and his brother Don. His sister Terry Evans died two days after Bob’s passing. Bob is survived by his son Steve (Sandy), daughter Suzanne Byrd (Tim), son Greg (Madhu) and son Don (Ginger).
A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at 709 J Street, Modesto on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 9:45 a.m.
