Ruby Lee Threet was born August 1, 1927 to Charles and Dovy Archer in Honeygrove, Texas. She passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 in Modesto, California. She was just 8 days from being 97.
It was in Honeygrove where Ruby met James walking around the town square. They married on October 6, 1945. James and Ruby were married for 53 years before James passed away.
Ruby worked for Foster Freeze for 27 years, from 1962 to 1989. She could look out the window and see James working across the street at Lander Shell Gas Station.
Ruby was always active in church. She is known for her strong faith. She taught Sunday school at First Avenue Baptist Church. In recent years, she was a member of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church in Turlock. She led the Ruth Class.
Ruby is survived by her daughters Karen Rucker (Ernie) of Keyes, California and Lisa Threet (Walter) of Modesto, California. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Richard, Lorelei, Greg, Curtis, Chad, Jeffery, Rebekah, Suzanne, Nicholas, and Stephanie. She also leaves 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, husband James, son David and daughter Brenda, who died as an infant.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Allen Mortuary 247 N. Broadway Turlock, CA. A funeral service will be held at Allen Mortuary on Tuesday, August 6 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Turlock Memorial Park 575 N. Soderquist, Turlock, CA.
