Georgia Ann Morriston (nee Lineberry) passed away on February 11, 2025, after a courageous battle against cholangiocarcinoma, a cancer as rare as she was. Georgia was born in Rome, Georgia on October 9, 1943 to C.S. Lineberry, Sr. and Ruby Nell Lineberry (nee Garrard). Georgia is predeceased by her parents; her brother C.S. Lineberry, Jr. (Butch); her daughter Heather Michelle; and son Joshua Michael. Georgia is survived by her son Daniel T. Morriston, his wife Malena and daughter Olivia; granddaughters Nora Kerry Morriston and Kylie D. Morriston; grandson Finnegan Michael Morriston; sister-in-law Mari Lineberry and son Michael; and husband of 55-years, Gary R. Morriston.
Georgia’s family moved to Windsor, Connecticut when she was nine months old. She attended Windsor schools and graduated from Windsor High School, class of 1961. In 1965, she accepted a job offer with an organization in Honolulu, Hawaii while assisting her brother’s wife during her pregnancy. On December 5, 1968, she met her husband Gary while at a get-together at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Garden Bar, a huge dance pavilion. There was a popular 60’s band performing and there were only two seats left, one next to Georgia and one across the table. On January 1, 1970, they were married in Riverside, California. The rest of the story becomes a fabulous, vibrant journey fueled by an incomparable love and zest for life. She shared that zest while living in Virginia, Tennessee, and California as she and Gary moved as directed by the Marine Corps, and her final choice of home…near her grandchildren in Turlock, California.
Georgia was deeply rooted in family, tradition, being kind, and was truly a “doting” grandmother. Her infectious, glowing smile and quick wit were a beacon of hope and a ray of sunshine to all who knew and loved her. May she continue to shine in all of our hearts.
