June 1942 – October 2020
Yonathan Jado Sarkis, 78, of Turlock, California, passed away on October 26th. His battle against terminal cancer and the debilitating side effects he suffered as a result of treatment were the cause of his passing. Although he and his family knew his time was coming and were blessed with a few more years of his life after his diagnosis, his passing still felt unexpected.
Yonathan was born in Hamadan, Iran on June 20th, 1942 to his parents Issa Jado and Berishwa Benyamin Jado. His father passed away at a young age, which led Yonathan’s brother, Shemshoon Sarkis, to step in and take on a new role in the family. Shemshoon paid for Yonathan to attend college in London where he received his license as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. From then on, Yonathan worked as an airplane mechanic in a number of locations.
Yonathan loved to enjoy life to the fullest; even when times were tough, he would somehow have a smile on his face in an attempt to cheer up those around him. He loved to entertain people with his jokes, dance moves, and story-telling. He truly was the life of the party.
In his spare time, Yonathan enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars, playing dominos with his friends, and taking walks at a local park in Turlock.
He lived a very colorful and full life. He was known for his hard-work ethic, determination, strength, humor, and, most of all, his big heart. When he loved someone, he really really loved them. He will be deeply missed.
Yonathan is survived by his wife Mary Sarkis; daughters Viola, Danielle, and Elizabeth Sarkis; sister Daisy Emanouel; grandson Matthew Francisco; cousins, neices, and nephews.
Due to the current circumstances, our family will be grieving in private.
