August 26, 1934 – May 13, 2021
Aileen Catherine Borges passed away after a long 19-year battle with cancer at her home on May 13, 2021 in Modesto, CA at the age of 86. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, family, loved ones and her loving caretaker Elizabeth Garcia.
Aileen was born on August 26,1934 in Alameda County before moving to the Central Valley during her adolescence. She graduated from Turlock High School in 1952 and married Valentine Rocha Borges, Jr. on October 1,1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish. After settling in Modesto, Aileen and Valentine began to raise their family of 4 sons and 1 daughter.
She was known for her baking and cooking. Her specialties included, but were not
limited to, her fried chicken and mashed potatoes and her sugar cookies, which were the center piece at every Christmas party. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother never missing a school play, baseball game, or birthday. Children and grandchildren could always count on Aileen to be the first one to call the morning of their birthday, for some this was their favorite part of the day and thing they looked forward to each year. Aileen was a “Chatty Kathy”, she could talk the ear off of anyone she met, but her favorite gossip partner was her sister Mae Chaves. The Lenny Sisters, as they were lovingly known, enjoyed many mornings shopping followed up with tea and pastries at the Old Tyme Baking Co. Aileen was a strong woman of faith, a
dedicated member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Turlock, CA for decades. She kept her rosary beads and prayer book by her side until she met the Lord.
Aileen was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mamie Silva, her siblings Joseph Silva and Mae Chaves, and her husband of 46 years Valentine Rocha Borges Jr. She is survived by her five children Michael Borges, Louis Borges, Joseph Borges, John Borges, Cynthia Borges-O’Dell and their respective spouses; and her 15 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren, and extended family. She will be deeply missed, and forever loved.
Viewing to be held May 18, 2021 at Allen Mortuary in Turlock, California from 3-6 PM. Rosary and mass to be held at Sacred Heart Parish Church on May 19, 2021 at 12 PM with graveside procession to follow.
