Amrik Singh Saini October 5, 1936 - June 22, 2018

October 1936 ~ June 2018
Sardar Amrik Singh Saini was born on October 5th, 1936 to Headmaster Bishan Singh Saini and Smt. Kartar Kaur in Punjab, India. He was the oldest sibling among seven children (four sisters and two brothers) and were raised in Pind Rapur-Punjab, India.  In October of 1960, he married the love of his life, Shila Devi. Amrik and Shila had three children: Jasbir Kaur Dola, Harbinder Singh Saini & Manjit Kaur. Amrik and Shila were happily married for 58 years. Amrik and Shila were inseparable; their love for each other was like no other. They would eat together, work together and laugh together.  Their family continued to grow; they had eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Amrik worked for the Punjab Electrical Board in Punjab, India for over 30 years and was employed as an Electrical Engineer. In 1992, he immigrated to the United States of America for a better life and future for his children.  He settled in Livingston, California where he began his new journey thousands of miles away from what he once called home. In order to support his family, he began working at Ganji Brothers Company, a tomato cannery factory located in Modesto, California.  After working at the cannery for five years he decided to retire.

During his spare time, he began working part-time as an Ice Cream Man. He was loved by the community and enjoyed having conversations with individuals from all walks of life. In his leisure time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and helped raise his grandchildren. He had a lot of pride and joy in the work he did, working on his backyard farm was a passion for him. He had a great sense of community and always wanted to give back to those in need and did what he could to help others.  He was an active member of the Gurdwara Guru Nanak Sikh Mission and also the Mandir. Amrik Singh Saini was a happy, loving, caring and independent man. May his soul rest in peace.
