Angel Martinez September 26, 1953 - December 14, 2024

Angel Martinez left all who loved him on the evening of December 14, 2024 at Emanuel Hospital at the age of 71. He had been in the hospital for two months working through complications from a stroke. He continued to be strong and determined to get better so he could return home; however, difficulties arose that took this courageous man from us.
Angel immigrated to the US at a young age. He grew up in the Central Valley and graduated from Livingston High School. He attended college, pursuing an interest in Criminal Justice. While in school, opportunities emerged and Angel started working for Foster Farms where he continued working for over 40 years.
Angel was the type of man where work came before play. He believed that we should all take pride in the things we do, to be hard working and give generously to those in need. Even though work was a big part of his life he also made time to have fun. Angel enjoyed many activities, but fishing, boating, camping, kayaking and gardening were among his most favorite. Angel had quite the green thumb and loved changing out the garden each season with new flowers and plants. He loved to cook, especially alongside his grandkids. He loved cooking BIG meals and working in the background at family events. Anyone who knew Angel knows the “Angel disappearing act.” He preferred one on one conversations to groups and would go MIA when the group got too large. He would later be found playing outside with the kids, cleaning up or napping in a secluded area. Angel was also a creative engineer. When things were broken or did not work to his standard, he would pause and scan the area for on hand replacements. We never knew what was going to be changed next, only that it would put a smile on our faces when we witnessed his ingenuity.
Angel was preceded in death by his mother Luisa Martinez and brother Albert Martinez. He is survived by his father, Carmen Martinez, sisters Rita Dreaden, Sylvia Sumandig, brothers Arthur, Larry and Luis Martinez.
He left behind Letha, his devoted and loving wife of 52 years, daughter Julie Look (Josh), son Joseph Martinez (Bethanie), 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Angel, Dad, Grandpa will be missed beyond measure and loved beyond words. His legacy will live on through the love he shared with his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Angel’s memory.
