Arleen “Joy” Robertson May 22, 1957 - July 8, 2024

Date of Service

July 21, 2024

Arleen “Joy” Miraflor Robertson was a beloved wife, mother, Lola, chaplain, pastor’s wife, friend and Harley Davidson enthusiast. After battling colon cancer for five in a half years-She peacefully passed from this life to her heavenly home on July 8, 2024, at 8:08 am.  She was 67 years old.  She leaves behind her beloved husband, 4 daughters, 3 son in laws, 1 son, 1 daughter in law, 7 grandbabies, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joy was born May 22nd, 1957 in Merced, Ca, to Bing and Lydia Miraflor.  Her heritage from her father was Filipino, from her mother, Hawaiian. She was the 7th child in a family of 10.  She was raised in Stockton, California, married and had her children in San Diego and then moved to Turlock. From an early age Joy served her Savior, Jesus, and had a heart for people, especially the marginalized and the downtrodden. She dreamed of being a missionary and fulfilled that dream in her day to day life in California. She touched so many lives.

She met her soul mate, Pastor Joseph Robertson, on July 15th, 1979 at a youth camp. They shared a life of service, adventure, sacrifice, generosity, ministry, and love.

Joy served in many capacities as Pastor’s wife.  Including Director of Nursery, Hospitality, making sure everyone had a place to sit, felt warm and welcomed. Chief Shopper of Shoes for Kicks for Kids, and Hope in the Hood, she served in the HOPE Food Ministry, Turlock Gospel Mission Dinners, on the Women’s Ministry Counsel, as a marital counselor, advisor, and a a mentor to everyone at New Hope and Hope church for the last 15 years.  She also served as a chaplain at the TPD.  Where you would find the hurting, wounded, suffering, poor – that is where you would find Joy.

Joy gave birth to Shari Robertson (Schussel) , Kristy Robertson (Johnson), Joseph Robertson, Tiffany Robertson (Wallace) and brought Harmony home from the hospital and they officially adopted her in 2019.

In 1990 she served as a 2nd grade teacher at Northview Christian School for many years. In 2000, Joy fulfilled a life-time dream of becoming a nurse. She worked in a doctors office for several years, as well as a nurse for the elderly.  She specialized in serving families with medically fragile children.

Joy immediately lit up every room she entered with her smile, positivity and kindness. She was a joyful presence with her bright smile, colorful dresses, her dangly earrings and bubbly personality. She deeply loved her family, friends, church community and truly every person she met. She will be greatly missed by all but we know she is dancing and smiling in heaven with her Maker.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hope Church of Turlock, 316 S Laurel St, on Sunday, July 21 starting at 3:00pm.
