On January 23, 1936 Arlindo Gomes Avila was born in Portal, Sao Jorge to Jose Gomes Avila & Emilia dos Almos. Arlindo was married to his belated wife Maria Humberta for 56 years. They immigrated to Angola, Africa in 1966 and then to the United States in 1976. In the States he worked in the dairy industry. His hobbies included playing cards, gardening, visiting his homeland, and spending time with his family.

Arlindo departed this life on July 8, 2021. He is survived by his four children Luis(Bernadette), Mary Lou (Steve), Dino(Liz), and Paul(Nivia), nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four brothers and sisters: Antonio Gomes Avila, Maria Alice Nunes Gomes, Eduino Gomes Avila, Maria Clarinda Avila Pavao, and several brothers and sisters in laws, nephews and neices. He is preceded in death by his wife Maria Humberta and late infant daughter Maria de Lurdes, his parents and numerous siblings.

He was a wonderful husband, grandfather, brother and friend and will be dearly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm, followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow.
