Barbara Ann Casale was the first born of a set of fraternal twins born on the day World War II ended on May 8, 1945. Barbara and her twin Antony Casale made the front-page news as the first babies born on V.E. Day (Victory in Europe) and were a welcomed blessing to their parents Marie Victoria (Former Department Store Buyer) and Salvatore Albert Casale (Chemist) of Morristown, New Jersey.

Barbara Ann passed away in her sleep after a battle with Dementia with complication from Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy on March 23rd , 2025 in Modesto, California.

Barbara loved to paint and enjoyed art so much that she studied Art and History, with a minor in French in college and went on to receive her master’s degree in Art and taught at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey prior to the birth of her daughter, Marie. After the birth of her son, John, Barbara joined her parents in Denair, California, where her father, a former Chemist, owned a vineyard. Barbara did not return to teaching and worked various jobs over the years. Five years settled into California, she gave birth to her youngest son, Michael. She still held a passion for art; her favorite artists were Joan Miro’, Claude Monet, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. She taught her children art through arts and crafts. Barbara was a voracious reader; she enjoyed reading M.C. Beaton, John Grishman, and Jeffery Deaver.

In 1997 she married Raymond Perez, changing her name to Barbara Ann Casale-Perez. Her husband passed away in December 2024.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Marie Victoria and Salvatore Albert Casale and is survived by her brother Antony Casale, children Marie, John and Michael, her grandchildren Andres, Emily, Troy, (preceded in death by Sherika) Aaliayah, Mikey (Michael) and Micheal. She will be greatly missed by her dear friend Rosemarie of nearly 50 years.  She had one nephew Christopher Casale born to her brother Anthony and Debra, and several cousins and second cousins, aunts and uncles, some who have have passed away.
