Betty JoAnn Burns (Perry), 84, passed away on September 25, 2024 in Turlock, CA. Born on September 2, 1940, in Gilroy, CA, she lived a full and adventurous life.
Betty is survived by her four children: Jennifer Pacheco, Theodore Burns, Valarie Ostang, and Kathy Lamm. She was grandmother to eleven grandchildren and great-grandmother to six. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Perry of Gresham, OR. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Suzanne Perry, and her two brothers, Joseph “Joey” Perry and Theodore “Ted” Perry.
Throughout her life, Betty embraced adventure and creativity. She was a long-time member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, where she was well-known and loved as Baroness Elizabeth of the Blue Rose. Self-taught in sewing, Betty was a talented seamstress and blessed many with this talent throughout her lifetime. She also had a talent for knitting and enjoyed making gifts for those she loved.
Betty loved music, and enjoyed dancing and singing. Remarkably, she played the piano by ear, never learning to read music but still bringing melodies to life.
Betty’s spit-fire personality and youthful spirit touched the lives of many, and she will be dearly missed.
Memorial mass and celebration of life service will be held at Our Lady of Miracles Church in Gustine on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10:00a.m.
