Bruce Martin, 74 of Modesto, California, born February 2, 1949 in San Francisco, California to David W. Martin and Shirley L. Martin, stepped over to his heavenly home on November 3, 2023, in Hughson, California.
Bruce was raise in San Lorenzo, California and graduated in 1967 from Arroyo High School. While at Arroyo High School, he was a member of the wrestling team and part of the All-League Star Champions. It was in his senior year at Arroyo that he met Deborah, the love of his life for 54 years. Bruce attended and graduated with a BA Degree from Golden Gate Business School in San Francisco. As a young boy, he began water skiing. His love of this sport led him into competitive slalom skiing. In 1969, he won the Western Regional Slalom Championship and later the National Slalom Championship during the National Water Ski Championships at Berkeley’s Aquatic Park. He and Deborah were married shortly thereafter on August 30, 1969, living in Castro Valley, California their first two years of marriage. Around 1972, The Bruce Martin Water Ski School was commenced near the city of Manteca until around 1983.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Deborah, children: Sarah (David) Ceres, CA, Timothy (Vanessa) Anna, TX, David (Hilda) Edmond, OK and Michael, Las Vegas, NV; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Dillard of Livermore, CA, along with nieces and nephews.
The family will have a celebration of life at Marie Callenders, 3500 Coffee Rd, Modesto, CA. A date will be announced soon.
