Carmen (“Carmie”) Johnson, 95, of Turlock, passed away on January 1, 2022. Carmen was born in Turlock and had 6 brothers and 1 sister. She graduated from Turlock High School in 1944. She married Errol Jose of Ballico in 1966, and they lived happily until he passed away in 1984.
Years later, Earl Johnson, a former classmate, moved to Denair and asked to join the class of 1944 as they met for monthly luncheons. Earl got reacquainted with Carmen, the two fell in love, and married in 1995. They remained married until his death in 2015.
Carmen spent much of her time writing poetry and making and sending cards. She loved baking and blessing others. Although she had no biological children, she was so loved by all of her family and friends.
She will be laid to rest alongside Earl Johnson, at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. Please share your memories below.
