Carol Jean (Ahrens) McSweeney
October 1944 – February 2024
Carol passed away peacefully on February 26, at home in the presence of her family. Carol was born on October 23, 1944, in Turlock to Inez and Steward Ahrens. She grew up in Delhi and Turlock, graduating from Turlock High School in 1962. Carol married Terry McSweeney in 1962 and together they raised their 4 children in Turlock and Hilmar. They were married for 52 years until Terry passed away in 2014.
Carol worked at International Paper in Turlock for many years, then worked as a Bookkeeper for Terry when he started his construction business. Carol enjoyed travelling and camping with Terry. Ireland, Italy, New Zealand were just a few of the destinations they got to enjoy during their travels. Their favorite camping destination was New Brighton Beach, a place they would camp several times a year often with the Martin and Pierce families. Carol and Terry also enjoyed treating their grandkids to annual trips to Disneyland.
Carol is survived by her 4 children Mike (Nina), Terri, Charity, and Zachary, 12 grandchildren (Mason, Kelsey, Mikayla, Ethan, Hayden, Cooper, Alex, Hailey, Lily Emersyn, Aidan & Seth) and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Terry.
