Carol Marie Vercammen

July 1950 ~ May 2020

Carol was born in Oakland, California and graduated from El Cerrito High School in 1968. In 1973 she settled in Turlock and married John Vercammen on May 12, 1973. Carol enjoyed cooking and travelling, but most of all she treasured time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband John Vercammen; children Michael (Mary) Vercammen and Eric Vercammen; grandchildren Michael Vercammen Jr. and Drew Vercammen; and siblings Robert Rockwell of San Diego, Lynn Tozier of Colorado, and Richard Rockwell of Colorado. She is also survived by her sisters in law Eleanor Vercammen, Juliette Frost, and brother in law Paul Vercammen, of all of California.

Memorial contributions can be made in Carol’s memory to American Cancer Society.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Carol, I look at your obituary every week. I’m really sad your not hear anymore. You where my friend, my buddy. You always made me feel so special. You made me necklaces and let me work in your craft room.

Vercammen Family
I an so sorry to hear the news that Carol is no longer on this Earth but now is frolicking in heaven with no pain. I will forever remember working with her at Gallo many years ago and what a great friend she was to me. God bless the family.

John, I’m so sorry to hear of Carols passing. We always enjoyed our brief time together on her weekly (sometimes more) shopping excursions. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed immensely.

My mom was Carol’s hairdresser and friend for years. I met her through my mom and her orneriness matched mine and a friend was made on first introduction. Such a beautiful and kind soul inside and out! She will be greatly missed. Prayers to all of the family .

I was blessed to have known Carol for 40 years. I was also Carol’s boss for a while and coached both Michael and Eric in little league. Given Carol’s candor that could have been a potential disaster but, instead, Carol was always a dear friend and someone I respected completely. I am truly going to miss her. All my love to John, Michael, and Eric as they navigate through this difficult time. Rest In Peace Carol.

John and Carol were one of the first people we met when we moved to Turlock. I will miss our get togethers and looking in your over stuffed refrigerator

Carol and John were two of the first friends that we made when moving to Turlock in 1979. We spent many holidays together, raised our son’s together and always had so much fun!
I loved Carol’s honesty, straight forwardness and her delightful sense of humor. She always had a twinkle in her eyes. I was blessed to call her friend.

I will always remember Carol for her spontaneous personality! We were Cub Scout Den Mother’s together and she was just a lovely fun person. She will be missed. God bless her and her precious family.

I will always cherish the memories…your beautiful wedding, the boys Christenings and long talks about life as our kids grew up, their weddings, your standing beside me when Steve and I repeated our vows, our trip to Venice and our amazing cruise to Greece, the day you cleaned my silver and critiqued my book for me, the time you took to help me find Bing cherries in May, your fabulous meals, your fierce love for your kids, the sparkle in your eyes when you talk about your grandkids. Grandma, it’s been 2 months since I last saw you. I missed you and wanted to see you again. I’m heartbroken to hear that you have passed away. On the bright side your in a better place, with no pain and can live your life with God. I miss you very much and blessed to be your grandson.
