Chandra Pati Prasad, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in Turlock, CA. Chandra is survived by her siblings Shiu Kumar, Jagat Ram, Parkash Mati, and Hirday Ram; daughters Sashi Hayes and Sakeena “Lata” Khan; sons Rakesh Prasad and Salesh Prasad, along with her 8 grandchildren, Neelam, Kaveeta, Amitesh, Peggy, Daniel, Ashley, Alicia, and Akshaye; as well as her 8 great grandchildren, Faith, Kaden, Kaleb, Riya, Rohan, Eliza, Everett, and Aylanni.
Chandra was preceded in death by her parents Buddhu and Rajkuar Ram, her husband Narendra “Kalika” Prasad, and her siblings Ben Mati Lal, Sukh Ram, Bhagat Ram, and Dev Anand.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Chandra was born on May 24th, 1940 in Suva, Fiji and was the eldest of 9 siblings. She married Narendra “Kalika” Prasad on July 15, 1956. In 1978 she and her family immigrated to California from Fiji with her husband and four children. They settled and moved to Modesto, CA, in 1978 and later moved to Atwater, CA, in 1997 where she had resided for the past 24 years.
Chandra’s greatest love was serving her family. She loved to watch Hindi movies and shows, and to listen to music. She loved to cook a homemade meal for her family and always kept in touch with her extended family and friends, near and far. Chandra will be missed dearly, but her family finds comfort in knowing that she is free of pain. Her love and legacy lives on through her family as she taught, loved, and cared for generations of her family.
Funeral services will be held from 11am-1pm on Sunday October 10th, 2021 at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway in Turlock, CA.
