Cheryl Cristina Gomez, a beautiful American Indian/Filipino woman, unexpectedly passed away on May 26, 2023 at her home in Turlock, CA. Her life was short-lived, passing at the early age of 62. Cheryl is the daughter of Irene M. Gomez and Felipe Gomez. Irene gave birth to Cheryl on November 6, 1960. Fourteen years later Irene and Felipe got married on 03/23/1974. Cheryl was born in Castro Valley. She was raised in Valley Center on the San Pasqual Reservation. Cheryl was part of the San Pasqual Indian Reservation and part owner of their casino.
In 1977 and 1979 Cheryl had two beautiful daughters, Cheryl Cristina Chavez and Katrina Cheryl Chavez. A couple years later she moved to Turlock, CA where she met the love of her life and her husband Timothy Allen Lacey. They continued to build their family in 1988/1989 by having two more beautiful children, Julia Ann Lacey and Timothy Allen Lacey Jr. Throughout the years, Cheryl and Tim’s family grew even larger with a total of 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She loved being a mother and grandmother. She was the best mother and grandmother a family could ask for.
Some of Cheryl’s hobbies were fishing and camping with her family and husband Tim. Cheryl and Tim would fish often, having fun and making memories even when she took a banana on the boat – lol. Listening to music, collecting knives, and taking (her dog) Max for rides around town were other things Cheryl enjoyed. She loved her music. Halloween was Cheryl’s favorite holiday. If you gave her a horror movie to watch she definitely would be a homebody with her hot chocolate in the winter and ice cold beer in the summertime.
Cooking and baking were also things she enjoyed. She was always in the kitchen creating new things to cook for her family. Her family loved her cooking and she could be a chef, according to her children and grandchildren. Cheryl was a very talented women who loved drawing, arts and crafts, and creating beautiful ribbons made from flowers that everyone loved. She also made a good amount of qenceneda dresses from scratch and they came out beautiful. She was a very smart, talented, strong woman that loved animals. She owned three dogs and two cats. What she loved most was her family. As long as they were OK, even from a distance, she was happy. She was definitely the heart of the family and there was nothing she loved more.
Cheryl was a beautiful, smart, funny, strong, fearless woman who has gone too soon. She was a great mom, wife, and grandmother with a big heart and will truly be missed.
A Memorial service for Cheryl Cristina Gomez will be held at Allen Mortuary, 247 North Broadway, Turlock CA at 1pm on Friday, June 16, 2023.
