Colleen Lynette (Allen) Smith was born in Lodi, California on July 6, 1943 to Hugh and Allison Allen. She grew up in Turlock, California. She had a wonderful childhood full of family and cousins. She met many people through school that turned into lifetime, loving friendships.
In 1963, she married Ken Smith. They moved to Sacramento and were blessed with their first son, Blake. A few years later they returned to Denair and bought their first house which quickly turned into a home when they had their second son, Chad. Colleen often spoke of what a wonderful neighborhood she lived in raising her sons and how lucky she was to have such terrific neighbors throughout the years.
Colleen worked in medical billing for her entire career. She worked in several medical offices and eventually went to work at Emanuel Medical Center, where she retired. She spent her retirement years enjoying many trips to different casinos. She loved the sound of a slot machine. She found joy being with family and friends while trying to hit that jackpot!
She loved her sons wholeheartedly and adored her grandchildren. She rarely missed any of their extracurricular activities. She knew her sports and was never afraid to shout out from the stands what a coach needed to do to get the win.
Colleen was honest and never apologized for her opinions. You knew if you asked her a question she was going to tell you exactly what she thought.
She loved to travel and take her family on vacations. Colleen loved the beach. She would tell stories about trips with family and friends to Santa Cruz, one of her favorite places. Many happy memories were made on our family trips. She was always generous. She made everyone laugh because she would treat the whole family to a trip to Cabo, but hated paying for a $12 hamburger.
Colleen is survived by her sons Blake Smith (Kim) and Chad Smith (Jodi); her brother Ron Allen (Louisa); grandchildren Kelsie Azevedo (Christian), Jake Smith, Hunter Smith, and Brody Smith; great grandchildren Kendall and Callen; and her niece and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Ken Smith, her parents, Hugh and Allison Allen and brother, Gorden Allen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Samaritan Village, 7700 Fox Rd, Hughson on Sunday, October 9th at 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alexander Cohen Hospice House https://hospiceheart.org/
