July 24, 1929 – February 3, 2022
Dale was born in Jedsona, Arkansas to Vernon and Jessie (Ferguson) Waller. He moved at age 6 to the Merced area with his parents, brother Ralph, and sisters Vera and Faye. He was a Corporal in the US Army in England where he met his future wife, Jean Bryan. Upon leaving the Army, he and Jean married and moved to Merced. Dale worked at Yosemite Builders Lumber Company and then BMC West before he retired. Dale was always enjoying new endeavors including gardening, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Yoga, ballroom dancing, and had climbed Half Dome in Yosemite several times. He was known by all who met him for his kind nature and easy-going personality.
He survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (Trish) and Bret Shelby, grandson Robert Dale Lopez, and great granddaughter Savannah Lopez, along with his nieces and nephews and their families.
Burial will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 11:00 am.
