Darlene May Clark September 19, 1935 - January 10, 2021

Darlene May Clark

September 19, 1935 ~ January 10, 2021

My beloved Mother, Darlene May Clark, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 10, 2021 and I believe she is in the presence of the Lord. She was 85 years old at the time and will be dearly missed by her family. Darlene was born in Taft, California in the mid-thirties. She was raised on a ranch her Father and Mother owned where they grew peaches, apricots, grapes, walnuts, almonds, and olives. As a young girl she was involved in Job’s Daughters, Girl Scouts, Choir, and she learned to Tap Dance. Darlene graduated from Hughson High School and at 20 years of age was written up in the local newspaper as she was awarded a Scholarship from “Chouinard’s Art Institute” in Los Angeles California where Walt Disney graduated. While attending the school she met Hollywood’s most famous Costume Designer Edith Head. Darlene had hopes of a career in design as she was highly creative and artistic, specializing in designing the latest swimsuits and dresses for the school. Darlene was a Mother and Homemaker and had lived in the Modesto area most of her adult life.

She is survived by her children Jill Ann Wiggs and Stephen (Licia) Clark; sister Beverly Miller; 8 grandchildren Sarah Fiechtner, Rebekah (Chris) Kleiber, Joshua (Katie) Fiechtner, Hannah Fiechtner, Noah Fiechtner, Lydia Fiechtner, Isaiah (Jenny) Fiechtner and Deborah (Jared) Best; 6 great grandchildren Judson, Gavin, Carson, Flynn, Greyson and Juliette.  Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Elmer Ray Joslin and Tula Joslin Penner and stepbrothers John Joslin and Michael Joslin.

A Memorial Service is planned in honor of her life. It will be held on February 12 @1:00 pm. at Big Valley Grace Community Church, 2020 Tully Road, Modesto, California. A private family dinner will be held following the Memorial.
