Diana DeeDee Robinson June 29, 1954 - July 27, 2020

June 1954 – July 2020

Diana DeeDee Robinson was born to George Sr. and Ethel Robinson on, June 29, 1954 in Merced, Ca. The family resided in Dos Palos, Ca.   Diana was the 10th child of the Robinson family.  At a very young age, Diana’s family started calling her DeeDee, her middle name.  “Baby” was added to her name as a nickname (DeeDee-baby).

Diana grew up in the church.  First Baptist Church of Dos Palos, Ca. became her second home.  At the age of 4 years old, Diana started singing in the choir.  She was so short a chair was added to help her see over the pulpit when singing.   At the age of 8, Diana accepted Christ. Over the years, as Diana’s relationship with God grew, so did her voice.  Singing would become her passion and dream.  Diana continued singing for the Lord in elementary school, college events, different church groups and community choirs for the Glory of God.

Diana was a proud graduate of Dos Palos High School Class of 1972.  She’d go on to receive an AA degree from West Hills College in 1975.  Diana’s first employment opportunity came as a typist for the Dos Palos Star.  She would continue as a typist for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner. This would be her second position in this field. Diana was the lead typist in her department typing 90 words per minute. She remained at the Los Angeles Herald Examiner until its final edition printed in 1989.  While in Los Angeles Diana toured the country with many gospel groups one of which was “Spread the Good News.” When Diana learned the gospel group was coming to Northern California, she made sure San Jose, Modesto, Dos Palos was one of the touring stops.

Diana made the decision to return to Dos Palos, with her two children, to help care for her father.  Upon returning home, Diana made time to help out at the South Dos Palos Head Start Preschool while attending Merced College.  After completing Child Development Classes at Merced College, Diana would head to Community Christian Preschool (CCP) in Modesto, Ca. While there, she became a Head Teacher and started their first Kindergarten class.  Diana was employed for 10 years at CCP. In 2008, CCP closed its doors and Ms. Diana retired from teaching. Her students, parents and co-workers lovingly remember her and ask about her all the time even today. Diana was an excellent cook. She loved baking for her church friends and family.

While residing in Modesto, Diana became a member of 1st C.M.E. Church.  Some of her responsibilities included singing in the choir, president of the Ushers, helping to film the services and being a member of the financial department (steward) of the church.  Diana had a strong alto voice but also an infectious laugh.  The Usher board consisted of youth and young adults 12 members strong.  The services she helped to record and God’s gift of stewardship is still being used today.  Diana’s lifestyle was ministry both in and outside the church.  She displayed the Gifts of Helps, stewardship and singing everywhere she went. These gifts will continue here on earth, but the way they were displayed through Diana DeeDee Robinson will be missed.

George Sr. and Ethel along with Jesse Calvin, Leroy, Oscar Lee, Alex Theodore, Bill Steward (god brother) and Martha Ann all preceded her in death. Left to honor her life, ministry and love is Diana’s daughter, Shatece Marie Robinson and her son, Davionne Rashard Robinson. Two Grandchildren Judaea Dee Robinson-Jones and Jrue Davionne Robinson all of Dos Palos. Three brothers, James (Vera) Robinson of Anchorage, Alaska., Sidney (Ellistine) Alfred of Long Beach, California and George (Rhonda), Jr of Riverside, California; and one sister Delores (Kenneth) Patton of Modesto, California, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

Graveside Service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10am in Dos Palos Cemetery District.
