Donald D. Sparks passed away peacefully at his home in Hilmar, California on Sunday, November 14, 2021.
Don was born in Clarksville, Arkansas on October 2, 1932 to Dulcie M. Sparks and Herschel C. Sparks. The Sparks family moved to Dos Palos, California when Don was a child. Don eventually met Patricia L. Gray of Spokane, Washington and the two were married on November 16,1952. They moved to the Hilmar area and became a part of the community. Don was family oriented, had a love of all animals, was a small business owner, and a Korean War Veteran.
Don is survived by his wife Patricia L. Sparks of Hilmar, CA, daughter Amy Sparks of Sacramento, CA, daughter Anne Sparks (John Campbell) of Markleeville, CA, son Patrick Sparks (Cheryl) of Hilmar, CA, his three grandchildren Matthew Sparks, Lucas Sparks, and Isabella Sparks, his sisters Mildred Meyer (Gary) of Hilmar, CA, and Phyllis Austin (Ben) of San Jose, CA. Don is also survived by his beloved dog Izzy and cat Miss Priss who were always by his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Herschel C. Sparks (Imogene), Bill Sparks and Billie Ruth Tomlinson (Jiggs).
A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held on May 14, 2022 at 10:30am at Hilmar Covenant Church Family Center, 20056 American Ave., Hilmar CA.
Don will be laid to rest at the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella, California.
