Donald Ray went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 15th, surrounded by his loved ones, he was eight-six years old. He was born in Wister, Oklahoma to parents George and Gertrude Hicks. Don attended schools in Modesto and graduated from Ceres High School.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He and his wife Janice were married in 1960 in Carson City, Nevada. They resided in Hughson till 1979, then moved to Turlock for sixteen years. In 1995 they moved back to Hughson, then in 2016 they moved to their current residents in LaGrange.

In the seventies he belonged to the Mid Valley Ski Club. He was an avid water skier. He enjoyed the family houseboat on lake Don Pedro. He was a member of the Modesto Area Street Rod Association, and the Central Valley Knights. He was instrumental in starting the Graffiti Fun Runs. He was very involved in his children’s lives. When his sons began wrestling, he took them all over the state to compete. He also became a referee. His faith was an important part of his life.

He raised his children going to the Eastside Church of Christ in Turlock. He was very involved there.

He is survived by his wife Janice of sixty-four years, his children Randy, Donny (Lele), David (Kim), Michele (Kent), Kari (Cliff) and Jon. Also, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren plus one on the way, three brothers Jerry, Roger and Michael Hicks, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his son Alan, great-granddaughter Harper and sister Georgia Smith.

He is greatly loved and will be missed by all. There will be a memorial service on Monday, February 24th at 10:30 AM at Sovereign Grace Community Church, 7201Hughson Avenue, Hughson CA. He will be laid to rest in his birthplace of Oklahoma.
