Aug. 24, 1926 ~ Dec. 15, 2020
Elsie passed away peacefully at her son’s home surrounded by family. Elsie was born in Denair to August and Mary Fernandes. She attended Denair schools and in 1947 married the love of her life, David Baptista. They bought a ranch in Hughson where they raised their two children.
Elsie loved gardening and had hundreds of flowers. She had a green thumb and could plant a sick twig and turn it into a beautiful plant. We could always hear her whistling while she worked. Elsie was an avid bowler in various leagues in Turlock and Modesto.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband David; her sisters Aldean Ballard and infant Mary Fernandes, and toddler brother Albert Fernandes.
Elsie is survived by her son Jim (Anna) Baptista; daughter Linda (John) Folly; grandchildren David (Nancy) Folly, Allison (Roy) Rocha, Jeff (Stayce) Baptista, and David Baptista; great grandchildren Kennedy, Andrew, Mathew, Gabriel, Keira and Skyler; sisters Silvia (Benny) Souza and Alice (Les) Baptista.
Due to covid restrictions, a private burial will be held. A celebration of Elsie’s life will be held sometime in the future.

December 30, 2020 at 10:30 pmJimmy, Linda and family,
I will genuinely miss Elsie… She was an amazing lady who was like a mother to me. I will always cherish her memories and all the good times my family and I shared with her and your family. She was a precious soul who cared for my father for many years and made a delightful difference in my family’s life’s and for that I am forever grateful to her. She was always filled with so much joy, kindness and inspiration. Her heart was always filled with an abundance of love and joy for her family and friends. She spoke highly of others and made friends easily. She focused on the good things in life. May God bestow his blessings on her by reuniting her in heaven with her deceased husband, David, family, friends and her past fur babies whom she loved and cared for so much. May God surround her with His love and all His angels in heaven. May she Rest In Peace…
Love always,
Shawn Magniez
