Evelyn D. Damas, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
Evelyn was born in Modesto, California, and raised in Turlock, where she graduated from Turlock High School. She married the love of her life, Leonard, and together they built a beautiful life, first in Hughson, California, and then later on a dairy in Crows Landing, where she lived until just a few weeks ago.
In her younger years, Evelyn found joy in bowling and dancing, two of her favorite pastimes. She was active in the Mountain View Fire Department, 4-H and FFA. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, dedication to her family, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, and her sons, Mike and Greg Damas; brothers Tony Dias and Frank Coito, Manuel Coito, and sisters Mary Amaral, and Pauline Azavedo. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Virginia, six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and happiness. She also leaves behind her two siblings, Dick (Rita) Dias of Denair and Dan (Barbara) Dias of Lake Don Pedro; and sister-in-laws Peggy Dias, and Alice Coito.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, at 1:00 PM, at Turlock Memorial Park.
