December 1928 – January 2018
Faye Frances Salmon, age 89, passed away in Turlock, California on January 24th. Born and raised in Oklahoma, she had an adventurous spirit and lived and worked in many places including Florida, Japan, Maryland, and Alaska. She worked in diverse jobs including phone operator, egg candler, cannery worker, couture doll craftswoman, and eventually settled in Turlock where she managed property for many years.
She traveled widely and delighted in experiencing different cultures, peoples, art, history, and cuisine. She had a sharp and curious mind, keen wit, and lots of grit. People have described her as a grand lady, a character, and a pistol. She was a hard worker, self-taught in many practical skills, an accomplished seamstress, life-master bridge player, and wonderful cook.
She is survived by her daughter Susan and granddaughters, Alissa and Lauren Gregory. If you knew Faye and have a memory to share or want to get in touch with the family, please email alissa@alissagregory.com .
