Modesto, California – Florence Holloway Velthoen passed peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 100.
Florence was born January 21, 1924, in San Francisco, CA to Charles Henry Eisenhut and Elizabeth Margarethe Dorothee Beckmann.
Mother of Shelby Leigh Greenlow (Michael) of Sacramento, CA, and Charles William Holloway (Loretta) of Sheridan, WY. Grandmother of Bradley Holloway (Elizabeth), Tyler Holloway, Eve Greenlow, and Grant Greenlow. Great-grandmother to Emma Holloway and James Holloway.
Stepmother to Brian Velthoen (d.2018)( Peggy), Barry Velthoen (Robin), Bruce Velthoen (d.2022) (Tamara) and Anne Keathley (Allen).
She is preceded in death by her second husband of 35 years, John Velthoen (d. 2012), and her first husband of 14 years, George Holloway (d.1964), and siblings George Eisenhut, Dorothy Petersen, Henry Eisenhut, Agnes Mader, Margaret Tanner, and Irene Spengler.
Florence is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly.
Florence worked for Modesto City Schools for 20 years. Her passions were family, golf, and bridge, and not always in that order. Florence was a member of the First Congregational Church of Salida for over 47 years.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Salida on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
In place of flowers, contributions may be made in Florence’s memory to the First Congregational Church of Salida or the Community Hospice and Health Services of Modesto.
