Francis “Frank” Barclay January 1, 1931 - January 15, 2025

Francis “Frank” Barclay
January 1, 1931 – January 15, 2025
Frank was born in Quincy, Massachusetts to William and Jemima Scott Barclay on New Years Day 1931. He passed away at the age of 94. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 in 1948. He served in the Vietnam war and Korean War. He often joked that he tried to join in World War II but was turned away due to his age. After retiring from active military duty and active reserves he relocated to Modesto CA to be near his son and grandchildren. He was employed at Industrial Electrical from 1979-1992. He was a 50 year member of the Fleet Reserve, American Legion Post 74 and the VFW.
His love of sports, especially baseball, football and golf earned him the nickname “coach” by which all his friends knew him. He lived life to the fullest, even near the end he could crack a joke and make you laugh.
Frank leaves behind his son Walter Gibson Barclay (Jean); brother Tommy Barclay (Gigi); grandchildren Brian K Barclay and James L Barclay; great grandchildren Brian Hernandez Barclay, Bonnie Hernandez Barclay, Neal McGuire Barclay, Emilie Barclay Benoit, Nathaniel Barclay; great great grandchildren Isabella Barclay-Leo, Annamarie Benavides and Sebastian Benoit. He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne DeWitt Barclay; parents William and Jemima Barclay; siblings William Barclay, Adam Barclay and Ferguson Barclay.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday February 2, 2025 at 2:00p.m. at Stanislaus County Veterans Hall, 3500 Coffee Rd. Ste 15, Modesto, CA.
