The love of my life, Gordon Gray, passed away February 28, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family.
He served in the Army Corp of Engineers and retired from the City of Merced as Public Works Manager where he earned the nickname of Good Day Gordon Gray. He truly loved his job building parks for families to enjoy the outdoors, extending bike paths, planting trees, and his favorite project, installing a Frisbee Golf course.
Gordon was community minded, serving on the Snelling School Board, Snelling Sewer Board, Snelling MAC, and was the Snelling Volunteer Fire Chief for over twenty years. He also spearheaded the installation of the fire-hydrant system, was project manager overseeing the Snelling Courthouse Renovation, and instrumental in building the new Snelling Community Hall.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Roberta, his four children: Melissa Miller (Roger), Gabriel Gray (Feliza), Christa Perry (David), Roxanne Gray, and his sister Nancy Lebednick. He parented foster children for twenty-six years. His joy was his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Gordon loved being at the ocean and, at any excuse, often called the family up for barbecue cooked on his Big Green Egg.
Gordon never met a stranger. He touched countless lives with his loyalty, kindness and generosity and always had a big smile and hug for friends and family alike. Gordon was the protector and center of his family’s world showing his love through actions. He is incredibly missed by all.
