Gregory Russell Tallman June 13, 1956 - August 24, 2021

June 13, 1956 – August 24, 2021

Greg Tallman went to be with the LORD on Tuesday, August 24th, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 65.  He was the youngest of the four children of George and Arlene Tallman and attended local schools, graduating from Turlock High School in 1974.  He studied forestry at Modesto Jr. College.

Greg was a very dedicated, hard worker his whole life. At the age of ten, he worked alongside his brothers at Central Valley Greenhouses, a local nursery.  After college, Greg worked for various companies in the agricultural industry. He started at Associated Feed & Supply as a young man, then moved on to other companies in the Visalia, California area, including Louis Rich Company.  In the year 2000, Greg and family moved to Turlock to take a job as head of maintenance at NuWest Milling in Hughson, California.  In 2006, he moved on to a position as General Manager for a company in Stockton.  In 2007, he accepted a position at Wilkey Sheet Metal as a lead foreman and fabricator.  In 2010, Greg returned to Associated Feed & Supply at the Sierra Grain Terminal location as Maintenance Supervisor, where he was employed until his illness brought about early retirement.

While working at Louis Rich Company in Visalia, California from 1984 to 1993, Greg met Mindy, who he affectionately called the love of his life.  They were married in 1986.  They started their life together in Visalia where their precious daughter, Brooke Emily, was born in 1989.  While living in Visalia, the family attended several churches and were members of Visalia First Assembly of God before moving to Turlock in 2000.

Greg enjoyed tennis, hiking, camping, off-roading, water and snow skiing, and surfing.  In his early twenties, he could be seen driving around in his Mini Cooper or Jeep CJ5 along with his St. Bernard.  Greg’s genuine sense of humor made everyday moments enjoyable and memorable.

Although Greg’s life was cut short, he spent his final days at home ministering to his family and friends.  The Lord impressed on Greg that God wanted him to be a vessel of the Gospel, which Greg embraced.  During the course of his illness and especially the last month while under hospice care at home, Greg believed that if he could transform the life of just one person by sharing his faith, then his physical suffering was not in vain.  Sharing his faith and love for the Lord was vitally important to him.

Greg was genuinely loved by his family and friends.  Survivors include wife Mindy, daughter Brooke, sister Annette Thompson and family, brother Dan Tallman and family, brother Steve Tallman and family, and 93-year-old mother, Arlene Tallman.  He was preceded in death by father, George, in 2018.  He is the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Greg’s Celebration of Life ceremony will be held Saturday, September 18th, at 1:00 pm at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock, followed by a reception across the street at Carnegie Arts Center.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations honoring Greg be mailed to Seva Hospice, 5330 Pirrone Road, Suite 303, Salida, CA  95368.

I had not seen Greg in years and was saddened to hear of Greg’s passing. The picture on the site here is lovely, he aged well. When you go through school with people you like, you don’t forget them, You may lose touch unfortunately, but you don’t forget. Greg was one of the nicest people, thoughtful, a little on the shy side and funny. Greg was always willing to help a friend in need, with late homework, cram for the test that was up coming, etc.. of course that was me, lol! Oh, Greg was always dressed so much nicer than the other boys growing up. Girls notice those things..
It sounds like Greg had a good life. I’m sorry cancer took him from all of you so early. It’s a nasty disease.
My sincerest sympathies to the Tallman family, your wife, daughter, brothers, sister and your dear mother.
    May He Rest In Peace

Knowing Greg from Visalia First Assembly where I was Brooke’s Kids Pastor, he was always full of life, smile and a caring heart. I remember his smile and you could tell he genuinely cared for people. He touched lives forever and he celebrates the reward… Well done!

Greg was always the life of any group.
I spend endless hours and days with my favorite cousin that made so many great memories of all of our travels together.
His quick humor, great friendly smile,
Crazy faces, and of course that hair!!!!
We lived together for a year and became the Bro Brothers!
    A comical time for sure.
Greg’s honesty and Happiness spread to anyone who knew him.
Mindy the love of his life joined him in Marriage and we spent their 5th anniversary and our tenth together having one of the Best Dinners celebrations of all times.
Only regrets are that we needed more time to enjoy retirement together.
Best Friend, Best Bro, Best and Craziest Buddy I could have asked for in any lifetime.
Happy Travels in the Clouds Above, keep an eye on us all as we have to wait to see you again .
Love and biggest of hugs to you and God Blessed me being part of the Family! ❤️
