Gurdial Singh Samra September 4, 1932 - March 10, 2018

Gurdial Singh Samra

1932 – 2018

On March 10, 2018 we said goodbye to our grandfather Gurdial Singh Samra.
Like many grandfathers, ours was not only a mentor, father figure, and support system, he was our friend.
His smile was infectious and lit up the room. His laugh was full of love and joy. His eyes would light up when he saw his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He loved sharing his stories, and we loved listening. Back in his village, he was the proud owner of “Guru Nanak Soda Water Factory”. Everyone in our village has a story of a time they were greeted by him with a warm smile when they purchased their goods.
He was born in India on September 4, 1932 to Late Narain Singh Samra and Late Nasib Kaur Samra. He lived a very happy childhood with his elder sister Mohinder Kaur Maan and two younger brothers Late Sukhdev Singh Samra and Hardev Singh Samra.
In 1954, he married our grandmother Amar Kaur who grew to become his best friend. They worked as a team and respected each other as equals. They were the epitome of a perfect marriage.
They had three children Shingara Singh Samra, Ajmer Singh Samra, and Baljit Kaur Bassi. He taught his children to be kind, compassionate, and tolerant.
He took part in helping to shape his grandchildren into strong, loving, successful adults. He loved his great-grandchildren with all of his heart.
He is survived by his sister Mohinder and younger brother Hardev, his wife Amar, his three children Shingara, Ajmer, and Baljit. His 7 grandchildren: Aman, Preet, Sonny, Akash,Kavita, Amita, and Sukhman. His Great-grandchildren Prabhjot, Ranbir, Zoya, Rohan, and Satnaam.
He is joining his younger brother and parents.
On that cloudy Saturday morning when he left this world and moved on to the next, he took a piece of each of our hearts with him.
