Hilda was born in Newman where she grew up on a dairy and was baptized at Newman Church. She married Joe in Modesto and together they lived in Turlock where Joe worked as a ranch foreman. She enjoyed playing cards, trips to the casino and spending time with her family.

Hilda is survived by her children Edward (Yvonne) Mattos and Rosie (Tony) Placido; sister Connie Hatten; four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
