It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, and papa, James Mack Henslee, on December 13, 2023.
Jim or “Jimmy” as his sisters would call him, was born in Levelland, Texas on December 7, 1939 to Joseph and Rella Henslee. He was the 13th of 16 children, and ultimately the last survivor. After graduating from Grass Valley High, he moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked as a bartender. This is where he met his wife of 54 years, Ramona, after changing the tire on her car. They married on December 6, 1969 after a short courtship. In 1971, Jim and Mona moved to California and made their home in Delhi. Jim worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union as well as the Masonic Lodge in Livingston.
Jim enjoyed playing card games and cribbage. While his kids were young, he coached t-ball. He also enjoyed watching most sports on TV, gambling at the casino and spending time with all of his family. If you drove or walked down his street, you would find Jim sitting on the front porch or in the garage watching westerns. He would always be sure to wave at you going by.
Jim is preceded in death by his dad Joseph, his mom Rella, sisters Alma, Thelma, Velma, Juanita, Selma, Zelma, Callie, Christine, JoAnn and Pat; brothers Joseph, Jay, Bob, Bill, and Paul; granddaughter Kristen and grandson Parker. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Ramona, daughters Judy, Lisa (Darrell), Linda (Joe), DeAnna, son Doug (Carla), grandchildren Heather, Nicholas, Ryan (Stephanie), Brandon (Tatiana), Kayla, Rickie (Taylor), Noah (Alison), Jonah, Sydney, Emma, Ethan, Roseanne and Jaxon; and great grandchildren Andrew, Ryan Jr., Jayden, Andrew, Kristen, Chase, Sofia, Harlie, Carter, Liam, Jordan, Ricky Devin, Layton and Preslie.
Services for Jim will be held on February 17th at 1:00 p.m. at Allen Mortuary in Turlock, CA.
