James Yettman  November 27, 1936 - January 19, 2024

Date of Service

February 6, 2024

Jim passed away on January 19, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born on November 27, 1936 in Sutton Nebraska, and his family moved to Turlock in 1938.  He graduated from Turlock High School in 1954 and married Maria Gerold in 1957; they were married for 60 years.  Jim started working at Turlock Auto Parts at the age of 15, delivering auto parts on his bicycle after school.  He became an owner/CEO in 1969 and worked there for 47 years, before retiring in 1999.

Jim was a reserve in the National Guard, a Little League coach for many years and a member of Kiwanis and SIRS.  He and Maria traveled to almost every state in the US and to several countries, enjoying his retirement to the fullest until she passed in 2018.  Jim loved helping others, he mowed lawns and did home repairs for many friends and neighbors as they aged and were no longer able to do so themselves.  He was an avid fan of the 49ers and Warriors and was known for his famous margaritas and contest winning hot dog recipe at Main Street Footers, The Yetti Warrior.  One of the things he enjoyed most was making people laugh.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ann Yettman and his wife Maria.  Jim is survived by his son Dan Yettman (Denise), daughter Pam Lancaster (Steve), his brother Ron (Peg), sisters Carol Gilstrap and Connie Falkenberg, his grandchildren Chase Yettman, (Allison), Krista Yettman (Steven), Ryan Lancaster (Stephanie), Chelsea Lancaster (Maxx), Stephanie Ruiz (Rocky), Jeff Bryan (Kayla), Jake Bryan and his great grandchildren Everett, Layla, Lily, Mason, Chase and Cailey.

We would like to thank Jim’s sisters, Connie and Carol for all of their help, love and support over these last few years.
